Making A Memory
While in Destin, Florida, a couple of weeks ago, my big girls and I made a fun memory at Magnolia and Ivy, a beautiful little tea parlor in Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin. We made reservations for our last day there for brunch in the tea room. We had fun playing dress up and enjoying a feast with some delicious hot tea. The tea room was gorgeous! There were so many hats, furs, jewelry, gloves, and everything you need to have a high tea. We had so much fun trying everything on. There is just something elegant and feminine about wearing big hats and enjoying delicious tea together! I chose the snowflake tea(from about 50 choices). It was described as a black tea with cinnamon and coconut...and it was so delicious! We each had our own teapots. Our menu consisted of: Breakfast casserole, strawberry scones with lemon butter, fresh fruit, juice, and tea. I love the fact that it is a christian place with scripture throughout the beautiful store...we even had scripture cards on each of our plates as we were served. It was a lovely morning! More than just enjoying a beautiful atmosphere, delicious foods, and delightful tea, it was a time with my girls that I will not forget. Making memories...isn't that one of the great things about being a mother?

They require that you are 5 years old before coming into the tea room...so our next trip, Evie can join us! She'll love it!

What a beautiful memory, Kim! Your children are blessed. Thank you for encouraging all of us with your fun ideas!

Would you mind sharing where you like to stay on your trips there? My dh and I would love to take our kids to the gulf coast area. We are not familiar with the area at all though.

Thanks for any tips. :)

We have a lovely Victorian tea room here in town. But I don't know if they have the dress up stuff. I'll have to check into that.

You and the girls look lovely in all your finery!

Awww. I wish you lived closer. I would like to have you and your sweet girls over for a tea party sometime! The hats were fun and made some great pictures. I am going to keep that in mind for MA's next tea party.

Oh, I just loved this! We have a tearoom in our town, but without the dress-up clothes, which I think would really add to it. Wow!

My daughter and I used to have regular "tea times" using the book "Just Mom and Me Having Tea" by Mary Murray. We would seclude ourselves in my room or wait until the guys were out, we'd wear something nice (or nicer!), use our fancy tea cups and wear some vintage jewelry that I have that has been passed down from some of the godly women in my family. We really enjoyed this time connecting with each other and thinking about our godly heritage. Thanks for making me remember that today with this beautiful post!

So fun! Josh and I had high tea when we were on our vacation in Victoria, BC. Josh's wasn't too excited, but once we were there he really enjoyed it! =) We weren't dressed up though. =D
