Compliments of a chaotic mom.
With Christmas approaching rather quickly,I thought I would compile a list of books we have given as gifts in the past. Some are children's books, some are parenting books, some are just reading for entertainment books. I highly recommend them to you for yourselves or gifts for others.I will try to include a link with them if any of you would like to purchase them.
1) *Shepherding A Child's Heart* by Ted Tripp This is the book that convinced us to homeschool years ago.
2) *Teach Them Diligently* By Lou Priolo This is the book that keeps us homeschooling...it shows how to use scripture in training our children. VERY HELPFUL! Another one that goes well with this one is *For Instruction in Righteousness* by Pam Foster.
3)*Honey for a Child's Heart* By Gladys Hunt...an excellent resource for children's books.
4)*The Basket of Flowers* This book is just a lovely story of a godly young girl, who was taught about God from her father. She has such wonderful character throughout the story...it is a wonderful example to women and girls and also for fathers who want to train their daughters to do what is right before God...this story will change your life! Ages 8-adult
5)*Discipline The Glad Surrender* By Elisabeth Elliot This book helped me with obedience issues in my life.
6)*Hymns for a Kid's Heart* Volume I and II by Bobbie Wolgemuth and Joni Eareckson Tada This book comes with a CD of hymns and the book tells the story behind the hymn.
7)*Hedge of Thorns* rewritten by Mary Hamilton There is a children's picture book for younger ones and also an older child chapter book. This book is excellent in helping children see the results of sin, especially disobedience to parents.
8)*All the Places to Love* by Patricia MacLachlan This children's book gives emphasis to family closeness and the simple things of life.
9)*Teddy's Button* Rewritten by Mark Hamby
10) *God's Wisdom for Little Boys* and *God's Wisdom for Little Girls* by Jim and Elizabeth George
11)*Mary Jones and her Bible* Lamplighter publishing rewritten by Mark Hamby
12)*Polished Cornerstones* Projects for daughters on the path to womanhood.
13)*Beautiful Stories for Children* Christian Liberty Press. This one is a reader for young children, but the stories and poetry are so beautiful,I read it to my younger children all the time. The stories teach godly character, politeness, and caring for others.

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

Thanks for the recommendations. I've always wanted to read the Lou Priolo book. I love the Tedd Tripp book and Honey for a Child's heart too.
We have amazingly similar tastes in books--I have about half of these books, and now can use the rest as a wish list! Isn't Lamplighter great?
We have used Plants Grown Up from Doorposts with our son, and I am excited to get Polished Cornerstones. Have you enjoyed this resource with your girls?
Thanks so much for all the great resources. I've read a couple on your list, but many titles are new. I'll be heading to Amazon or CBD to check on several of these.
Great list!!!! Hey can you do me a favor, give credit to "compliments of Chaotic Mom" for the banner. I did not do it. Thanks. I am so glad you did a TT. I am going to have to look up the books I don't recognize.
Thanks for all the links. I have read "Honey for a Child's Heart" and it's great.
Welcome to TT!

I have really enjoyed reading Christian Fiction lately. Bret hates it when I get a new book because that means that I am going to have my nose into that book until I finish it which luckly for him it is usually a day or so. They are that good. I think that Gracie would like some of them.
Karen Kingsbury is my favorite you can't go wrong with any of her books.
The Redemeption Series (got me hooked on Christian Fiction)
Red Glove Series (Good Christmas Stories)
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers
A must read for teenagers
Dee Henderson writes mysteries
O'Malley Series
Terri Blackstock writes mysteries as well
Cape Refuge Series
Jayme
Oh, the Elisabeth Eliot one is jumping out at me, not to give, but for me. These all look good!
I have read several of these! You have also recommended some I have never heard of. I've added them to my wish list. Thank you for sharing your favorites. I'm always on the look-out for good books that our family can enjoy. I read the summary of The Hedge of Thorns--it sounds really good.
Those books look great. I've read a few of them. Shepharding a Child's Heart and Discipline, by Elliott. Great list!
Welcome to TT!
Thanks! I LOVE to read!! So, I am looking forward to looking into some of these books!!!
I,too, love your list. I bought Polished Cornerstones and Plants Grown Up at the beginning of this year as we started homeschooling, and plan to use them as the base for our curriculum.
What a great list Kim, I am going to take note of these. i have just bought Shepherding a Child's Heart, haven't started it yet but can't help peeking!
And wow, Mary Jones and her bible....that's a real blast from the past....I read that as a kids and it really captured me! Thanks for reminding me of it.
