Random Thoughts from Today
Today was a beautiful day! This is probably my favorite weather...warm(about 75-80 degrees), slightly breezy, sunny, and with the slightest hint of green everywhere. It has been a very lovely day and I think tomorrow is going to be the same! Love it!

I went for a jog today. I love to jog, but my knees don't like it so much. My legs hurt, but I kept on going...I am determined to finish something I start! I am that way with everything. I set my mind on something, and I go with it until it is accomplished. So, I ran. The heat made it harder today...the hills were tough. I have one steady incline that last for 3/4 of a mile. This particular hill has a slow steady incline that gets more steep at the end. I call it the killer hill. I have made my girls jog it with me before. They didn't like it either!!! Needless to say, I ran it. I have begun eating less and eating more healthy. I am usually a pretty healthy eater, but lately it seems I have been preparing lots of hot lunches for my children and I have been eating what they are having. So,I am cutting back to more fresh fruits and veggies and salads with low fat dressings. I do splurge from time to time...tonight I made cheese enchiladas and black beans, so I had to have that!!! Mexican is my favorite! Anyway,I am walking or jogging 6 days a week, eating more healthy, and drinking lots of water.

As I was running today, I thought about the shortness of life.(as I was experiencing shortness of breath! Ha!) Even though we take care of ourselves and try to take care of our bodies, we will all die one day. This is a fact and nothing we do can change that! It made me think about how important each day really is. I thought about all the choices I make each day...how it affects others and how everything I do should bring glory and honor to the Lord. We really do not have any idea when an accident, disease, or other calamity could make our life short. I want to live each day like the Psalmist says..."This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." How often I do not do this. So many things I allow to rob me of this attitude. I must persevere to be a rejoicing person in all things. This is God's will for me. Life is much too fragile and short...

Today, I thought about why people do the crazy things they do...selfishness...that is it, plain and simple. We all are prone to it. We must see that we are all vulnerable and must have God's Word permeating our hearts and minds so that we will not sin against God. None of us are immune to sinful desires...we must persevere until the end to be a faithful child of God.

What about those who give in to their selfish desires and sinful nature...they destroy other's with their actions....For example, they leave behind beautiful wives and children for what they want in life...only to hurt and bring about heart wrenching agony. They seek to satisfy their own selfish lust and want what they can not have...they covet. They forget about God and His ways and seek to have a life based on fulfilling their own desires...self love and self promotion. It saddens me.

Life is short. Every day we must make important decisions about how we will spend that day. His ways are best for us...when will the world see it?

So true, Kim. We all get selfish desires, what will we choose to do with them? Will we choose to make the right decision that will allow His best in our lives? It always comes to choice doesn't it? Oh may I be more aware of that each day that I might choose wisely.

This reminds me of a verse I love, "Teach us to number our days, that we may present to you a heart of wisdom."

Thanks for sharing this, Kim.

BTW, Great job on exercising. I try to run 4 times a week. I love the feeling after a run.

Kim-I am also a runner and those times, like you afford me times of meditation and prayers. I have even named some of the hills I run, after specific individuals I pray for at that time. The ‘struggle’ up that hill to me is such a vivid picture of our christian life. You are so right, we must be enduring...Enduring in our fight against sin, enduring to fight against selfishness... Enduring in our love for those around us. Thank you for your thoughts today it encouraged me to hear someone else echo what is in my heart also. Terri

I don't think the world will ever see it, at least not as long as there is sin in it.

I am NOT a jogger. My poor little knees give in awfully quickly. They prefer the elliptical trainer. :-)

Hi Kim, I too am making some changes for my health. Enough is enough. You are so right, life is too short to not make the best of what we are given while we can. As part of honoring God in all that I do I need to include my health in that as well.
Thanks for your motivation :)
Laura
