Fervent in Spirit
Romans 12:11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
Dr.John MacArthur says:
Dr.John MacArthur says:
One of humanity's most chronic shortcomings is the lack of individual enthusiasm. Often our failures to achieve what we ought result directly from apathy and lack of commitment. But that should not be true if you're a Christian. Enthusiasm requires Spirit-assisted resolve and persistence, not just human guided good intentions. Henry Martyn, the tireless missionary to India, conducted his ministry with scriptural enthusiasm and fervency. It was his desire to *burn out for God*. And the apostle Paul admonishes us to "not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." Galatians 6:9

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

Yes! And I have found that God is SO faithful, through His Holy Spirit, to restore that enthusiasm in me. Mine is just so short-lived sometimes! I was just thinking this week how He is so faithful to supply me with enthusiasm and energy for the very things that He has called me to do. I believe that is "serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified..." (1 Peter 4:11) Great post!
Kim,
I was just thinking about this exact thing last night as I was reading Psalm 119. That is just what the Holy Spirit pointed out to me last night-- the zeal that David had. He speaks about his zeal "wearing him out" and just how fervently he loves the Law of the Lord. He meditates on it "all day long" and hates everything that is evil with a passion! May God give us the zeal that is spoken of in Psalm 119. Just imagine what could be accomplished!!!
One more thing...
Galatians 6:9 is right above my kitchen sink, where I can look at it often. :)
What a GREAT reminded that I needed to hear today. Thanks!
Apathy and lack of commitment. Yep. For sure.
Boy, is that convicting.
Amen and amen.
Definitely words worth pondering...
That is so true!!!Thank you, I needed that.
I've been reading your wonderful blog for some time now. I wanted to send this link to you in case you don't know about it already. These photographers are willing to take pictures for free for families going through adoption.
