A Turning Point
When I first began my blog, I had every intention of making Lifesong a blog focused on our adoption process...the wait(which at the time, we thought would be about 12 months), our family as we wait, and her exciting arrival. I have had my head in the sand,literally,...ignoring all rumors pertaining to adopting from China and not reading any adoption message boards, etc. I have been quite optimistic that the wait would speed up and we would be getting closer as we reach the 2 year mark of our wait in September of this year. I just knew in my heart that the wait would not get much past 24 months.

The neat thing about all of this is that my blog has become more of a personal account of what God is doing in my life and in my family's life. I have loved writing posts about what the Lord has been teaching me through His Word and through Biblically sound books I have been reading. I love sharing some fun things pertaining to family life as well as serious things we are trying to do with our 4 children. I like writing book reviews and giving my 2 cents on things I have read. I like recommending books to you all, because I know how beneficial they have been to me. It is great to pass it on. I love keeping up with my Monday menus. I feel blessed to be able to write down my thoughts in this manner...mainly because I pray it blesses you and because it helps me learn things, too.

Well, now that the reality is setting in, I realize we will not have a referral close to the two year mark...we may not even get a referral in 2008...and as horrific as it sounds...we could possibly not get a referral in 2009! 2010 is the year our oldest graduates...we NEVER thought this new child would not know and be around Gracie on a daily basis. We were told by our agency that they do not think the wait will extend past 36 months...which could be September 2009, but it is still not looking likely.

All of my human revved up optimism is fading. I was so eager(in the beginning) to tell everyone how this process requires patience and I want God to teach me to be more patient...well, that is what I prayed for and He is allowing this great learning time for me to endure in patience. Wow! I guess He knows that it will take me a LONG LONG time to learn it! I am optimistic, though, in God's plans for us...I just didn't know it would be this hard. He is faithful...I must remember that simple statement of Truth.

So, since my Lifesong blog has turned into what it is, I thought it would be great to have a new blog...a fresh girly look, a little pink, a little charm...a time to look forward to the joy that is coming! Lifesong will still be my main blog and I will just continue it *as is*...but our new blog will be all about adoption...our journey...the times of joy, the times of frustration, the times of heartache, and the times of sheer anticipation to her arrival.

So, please visit me here, Sugar Pie Honey Bunch. This new blog was designed by Blogs by Danielle. What a doll she is! She was so patient with me as I tried to describe what I wanted, while confusing her with my wrong terminology on everything blog related...I really have no idea what I am doing with these blogs...and I sure can't explain it well. But, she stuck with me! And she did a superb job! It is pink, cheerful, and fun...just what I need as we try to endure and trust in God's sovereignty.

Thank you for all your comments for Gracie's birthday! How sweet of you! I love that we can share our ideas with one another...encourage one another as we parent. It gives me great joy to know we (all of us) are making an impact in our children's hearts for Christ.

I love your new adoption blog! Just love it! I'm thinking of starting one, too. I just can't decide. A LOT has been happening in our adoption, and I've been too filled with emotion to post about it. But, I feel an avalanche of posts coming on!

I can't wait to read more of your adoption thoughts on your new blog. We know several families going through the long wait in the China program like you are. God is so, so faithful. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

Oh Kim, my heart goes out to you in this wait, I know how hard it is and I have to constantly remind myself God's timing is perfect. Love the new blog. Praying for you.

Kim,
I have been a frequent reader of your blog. I am an adoptive/bio mother of 4 children(3 are adopted from Korea). I feel the pain in your voice while you wait for a referral and was wondering if your agency has talked to you about considering a waiting child. There are many who are waiting for minor things but are maybe a little older. Please understand that I am not trying to talk you into anything. Our youngest was a waiting child and he came to us at 18 months. His medical issues are a non-issue at this time and prayerfully forever. The thing I learned with adoption is that a healthy referral may not always be "healthy". While a "special-needs" may end up being minor. Just thought I would share since you stay away from the discussion boards(GOOD IDEA! They will just make you crazy!) Just from reading your blog, I can tell how godly of a mom and woman you are. Have a great Mothers Day.

Sally

I have some dear friends also in the wait for their international adoption--three years now! They, like you, continue to trust the goodness and sovereignty of their God. He does all things well in His time!

I love your precious new blog! I cannot imagine the process of waiting that you and family are going through. Your willingness to share your faith in Him....no matter what is a blessing to me.

Hi! I must admit that I've been a "lurker" on your blog for quite some time now :) I visit your blog often via Pandapalooza's (who happens to be one of my closest and dearest friends). I have noticed that you link to many of the same resources and people that I frequent, and I've just been encouraged by reading your thoughts on here. I'm excited to see what the Lord does in and through your family during this long adoption process~

Grace and peace~
