Monday Menus and Off To A Good Start
We have officially started our formal homeschool year. Today has gone really well so far! It is amazing what you can accomplish when you begin early! My kids can accomplish a lot when they have an early start, too! I woke up about 6:15 for a 4 mile run. (I have been trying to work up to 4 miles) When I get back, it is a good time to have a quiet time. This works if the younger ones are not awake yet. It was fine today. I have not decided if I am going to do that early in the morning as I have been doing or in the early afternoon, when the younger children are resting/reading in their rooms. Our scheduled time for breakfast is 7:30. The older girls have to have their showers, hair fixed, and beds made before they come to breakfast. I know, I am so hard! I leave what time they get up to them, depending on how long it takes them to be ready. Then the older ones begin their school at 8:00. Each of the kids have life skills to do and I usually have them do them first thing in the morning, but I am thinking of changing that to the afternoon to make the morning a little more about getting ready for the day, having a quiet time, and a nice relaxing breakfast...we will see how that works out. We are trying that today.

I am going to do school with the younger ones about 8:30-10:00. Evie is just doing her phonics, Bible, and History right now. We will begin Saxon Math after our beach trip in September, so her schedule is not so strenuous at first. I think she is going to love the Math--it looks great! We were not homeschooling the older ones at this age yet, so I have not used Saxon 1 before. I am really excited about it, though! When we are done with school, we are going to be watching the Olympics! Hasn't the swimming been exciting?

I am feeling all energized with the new year ahead of us! And getting back on a routine is so so refreshing to me! I function better that way. Honestly, my children do, too.

I have been having fun making my breakfast, lunch and dinner menu plans for this week. I really do enjoy serving my family with healthy meals. That is a big challenge to me, but I find it a good challenge! I won't bore you with all of the breakfast and lunch plans, but here are our dinner plans. I hope you all have a great Monday!

Monday--Parmesan Chicken, whole wheat fettucine in a light mushroom cream sauce, steamed broccoli, baby carrots, and cauliflower.

Tuesday--Potato crusted cod, baked sweet potatoes, sauteed green beans.

Wednesday--Night off from the youth group...Grilled Chicken Caesar salads and garlic bread.

Thursday--Abigail's Birthday swimming party...we are having a few good friends over. Pizza and fruit will be on the menu...as well as Ice Cream Sundaes with lots of toppings so they can make it themselves.

Friday--Rotisserie Chicken, roasted new potatoes, sauteed spinach, blueberry and yogurt parfaits. (Or we may be taking one child to a birthday party out of town)...

Saturday--Veggie stir fry with brown rice or eat out?

Wonderful to hear of your smooth start! Sounds like lots of great things are planned.

I, for one, would not be bored to hear of your lunch and breakfast ideas.I know it's a lot of work to post it all though. I struggle to come up with creative ideas for week day lunches. If you have time, feel free to post them.:)

Happy Monday!

Your weekly menus always look great and healthy too. Do you get them out of cookbooks you own or off the web? I'm been working on creating my own cookbook in a computer program; grabbing all the recipes from magazines, cookbooks and off blogs and organizing them.
Would love to know what is working for you.

I know it would take up lots of time....but I'd love to hear your menu plans for breakfast and lunch.
I need healthy breakfast and lunches that are also (preferably) easy.....
=)
AND - as someone who thrives on my schedules (and yet oddly loves spontinaity-- I'm weird I know) I can't wait for our fall schedules to be solidified in a few weeks. Just thinking about it makes me excited!

I love to see your menus each week and the breakfast and lunch menus would be no exception:) Also having older (17dd) and younger (7yo twin sons) children that I home educate, I would love to hear about how you schedule to make time for all the children as well as the life skills you incorporate into your day. Not much to ask, huh? ;)

Blessings,

Hi Kim!

We love to each fish at our house and we are always looking for new ways to fix it. We usually try to have it once or twice a week. This Potato Cod recipe sounds wonderful and I would love for you to tell me where I can find this recipe.

We try to eat very heathly as well most of the time. We love vegetables and fruits. So I have really enjoyed looking at your meal planning and suggestions. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and by the way, I would also love to see some of your breakfast and lunch suggestions, especially for the kids.

Thanks!
Robyn
