A Thankful Heart
My husband and I managed to get out last night...alone...after a homecooked chili dinner we ventured out to a place that we hardly ever visit these days...the movie theater!
We have been wanting to see Fireproof for a while now, but in between soccer games/ tournaments, little ones needing us at home, and helping out some with some needs of my parents, we have not had the time to see it. Thankfully last night we did have time. It was well worth the wait to see such a God honoring movie on the big screen! We have seen *Facing The Giants* and *Flywheel*...loved them both. But we were so excited to find out that their next movie would be released in theaters.
I adore Krik Cameron...not only did I adore him as a teenager watching him on Growing Pains, but as an adult, I have come to respect him as a godly man(husband and father of six!) and wonderful example in Hollywood. I remember hearing on American Family Radio that Kirk showed up to audition for Fireproof just like everyone else and he was just the man they needed! I'm sure they were so grateful that he chose to be involved in their movie...how humble of him to audition for the part! Kirk and his family attend John MacArthur's church in California and recommends on his website books by CJ Mahnaey, Ted Tripp, Alistair Begg, and John MacArthur.
For those of you who have not seen it, it is about Caleb(Kirk Cameron),a firefighter captain and town hero whose marriage is falling apart. Caleb's father intervenes and challenges Caleb to try a 40 day love dare, where Caleb is instructed on things to do each day to show his love for his wife. He didn't want to do it at all, but was willing to give it a try. He realizes half way through the 40 days that he does not even know what real love is...it is then that he gives his heart to Christ as his father leads him through the gospel(precious scene!). The fight for his marriage truly begins at this point.
After seeing this movie, my heart was immediately drawn to how good God is to us! When I think back on my 20 years with Mike, and I am forever grateful to God for bringing us together and sustaining us through the years. It was sooo much more that what I deserved at that point in my life, well even today for that matter. Mike has been and continues to be the most wonderful man I know and I love him so much! I know I didn't deserve him for a husband, but God in His goodness gave him to me...and I must be eternally grateful. It is so amazing to look back and see God's hand of grace and mercy in my life. How He has delivered me from a sinful life and has planted my feet on a firm standing place--His grace.
Mike is not perfect. I know I speak so highly of him often on my blog. None of us are perfect, though...and we have had our share of difficult times. We have learned how to forgive eachother and love eachother in spite of our failures. It is a good place to be in--knowing that we both have the same goals and we can truly trust eachother. Marriage is a covenant and a blessing from God. But our own selfishness can rob of us of seeing it as a God given blessing. I know that was true of me at times.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. A wonderful time to reflect back on the years and seeing how God does make a way when we think there is no way. I will be busy getting my house ready and preparing our Thanksgiving meal tomorrow...but in my heart, I will be quietly singing a song of praise to God...for who He is and what all He has done. And I will be saying to God...thank you for my husband!

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

What a wonderful example of being thankful for what we have and praising Him for His many blessings. It is good to be acutely aware that we are not perfect, that way the Lord definitely gets all the glory.:)
My husband and I saw Fireproof a couple weeks after it had come to the theaters. We really loved it and we both cried! We wished we had brought Kleenex with us.It was a blessing that Christ's name was so openly lifted up in theaters!
Beautiful picture, Kim! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. :^)
Can't wait to see this movie!
And I'm so thankful for a happy marriage too.....with all the marriages falling apart these days, it's so nice to see a couple who are truly devoted to one another. It's an encouragement. Thanks.
We have not seen Fireproof yet, but hope to see it soon. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
What a sweet picture of you and hubby. I really want to get out and see that movie to. Thanks for the review!
I haven't seen Fireproof yet and though I've heard a lot about it I didn't know what the story line was until now. I REALLY want to see it now, sounds powerful.
