God is Glorified
One of our pastor's said a profound statement this past Sunday...I have been thinking on this a lot these last few days. I did not have the time to write it all down word for word, but I did manage to get the concept down. He said: "God is not glorified when we, as believers, prosper or when things are all going well, but God is most glorified when He sustains His people through unthinkable circumstances."
Sunday morning I immediately thought of these three families:
This precious family who recently came home (I think about 6 weeks ago) from Ethiopia with 2 little guys to add to their family. They are enduring the tragic accident of the youngest of these 2 beautiful boys. He is alive and they are praising God through the storm. You can read about them here...but don't just read, please pray for them as well. If you read down a couple of posts, you will see that God is being glorified through this terrible accident...their faith is so strong, in my weak eyes...but it is really their God who is the strong and faithful One. Praise God for saving this little guy's life...his life will be forever changed, but I trust God will give him miraculous strength to get through this and be one of God's mighty little soldier's for His kingdom! You can read more here.
Also, I still often pray for the Chapman family and their great loss of their beautiful daughter, Maria. When I think about that quote, I think about this grieving family. What they have been through and now how they endure these days...they are trusting God and a watching world is seeing the glory of God through them.
When I think about suffering, I can help but think about Amy and her precious family! Amy endured unthinkable circumstances, but God was glorified...He has sustained her family and continues to do so. I thank God for Amy's mother and what an example she has been to me...and I thank God for Brandon, who is still working on a book about Amy that will be read by many. I pray for little Gary and his great loss. We don't know God's ways, but we can be sure that His heart of love, grace, and mercy is fixed on His people and He is the One who sustains.
These families are all spiritual giants and examples to me. I am easily fearful...I waver and question many times, but when I see God's great goodness in the lives of those who walk with Him, I am greatly encouraged. My faith may be small, but is in One who is great! I am thanking the Lord for these families today!

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

Kim, thank you for praying for Carole and little Samuel, we are praying as well. Her faith is awe inspiring to me...even in the midst of horrific circumstances, she finds joy. What an example to me.
I have been praying for little Samuel since the accident. Carole is amazing, and her faith is strong. I remember someone telling me something similar to what your pastor said. And I remember thinking, "Then I am pathetically weak, because my faith is NOT shown in adversity." Sigh. I have so much to work on.
It is so hard to think of embracing such suffering apart from His grace. Trying to imagine what these families have gone through is unbearable!
I think also of the Sponberg family (Nicol from Selah) who lost their baby boy to SIDs. Reading through these blogs has been a very difficult thing but it has given me the opportunity to see God's grace in a very real and beautiful way.
