Heart Check
I recently heard this question from one of our pastors and have been thinking on it:

"Would we still desire to go to heaven if Christ was not there?"

In other words...do we follow Christ for how He benefits us...or do we find true joy and satisfaction in Him and Him alone?

Do we look forward to heaven because there will be no tears...no pain...or do we seek to see Christ in all of His glory and worship Him forever?

Do we think of heaven as a place to see love ones whom we miss dearly...or do we think of the One who gave everything so we could be there?

Do we seek Christ for His signs, His help to us, His comforts, or do we seek Christ as those who are hungry and seeking food for nourishment.

Do we see our need for the only true One who satisfies...or do we seek fulfillment in all the wrong places?

Do we see our greatest need as forgiveness? Or is our greatest need
to be "happy"?

Like hunger we come to Christ knowing we are sinful and in need of forgiveness...we have a great need...A hungry person comes to food and trust the food as a way to satisfy. Should we not seek Christ the same way...fully trusting Him as the One who completely satisfies?

I don't want to be like the unbelievers in John 6:25-51 who sought Jesus for what he could do for them.

John 6:35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.

Kim, we must be on the same wavelength. Check out my post today. It's a great quote by A.W. Pink on this same topic!

This is a question that Francis Chan presents in his book, "Cfrazy Love." When I read it, I was stunned--what a convicting question! Do I long for heaven because it is a wonderful, pain free place or simply to be with Him? Great thoughts!
