Our Annual Father Daughter Banquet
This past weekend was our family's favorite event: The Father Daughter Banquet at our church! My girls always look forward to this special evening with their daddy! The fun part this year was the fact that I got to attend as well! I had the privilege of helping with it...so all of those years of wishing I could be a fly on the wall finally came true Friday night! It was a lovely evening and I see now why my girls and Mike love it so much! One of my favorite things was the senior tributes where the senior girls give a tribute to their dads...such a great way to honor the wonderful fathers! This year it was pre-recorded with pictures of the girls with their dads. The girls read a tribute that told what their fathers have meant to them over the years...some of them were funny and some of them were heartfelt and made me cry. All in all they were beautiful to hear! Fathers need encouragement...they need to hear from their daughters that they are loved and appreciated. So, even if your daughters do not have such an event to go to...just have your daughters write a tribute to their fathers every once in a while...it will melt their hearts and keep their relationship strong and close.
The message to the girls and their dads was really great, too! It was on how to make your communication with one another Biblical. I really appreciated what the speaker had to say...I thought during his message how good it was for my girls to be reminded of these things...and as I listened, I thought how good it was for ME to be reminded of these things, too!

Communication is more than just words. It is timing, words, expressions, place, manner, audience, etc. Eccl 8:5...the wise heart will know the proper time and the just way.
Dad: Don't be quick to speak. Proverbs 10:19, 13:3, 15:23
Daughter: Don't fight every issue. Proverbs 17:14, 18:6-7, 19:13
Dad: Speak gently-not harshly. Proverbs 12:18, 15:1,4
Daughter: Ask questions, gain wisdom. Proverbs 3:1-2, 13-18, 4:1-9
Dad: Speak encouraging words. 1 Thess 2:11-12, Proverbs 16:24
Daughter: Speak respectfully. Exodus 20:12, Ephesians 6:1-3
Dad: Be available.
Daughter: Be sensitive.

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

That is beautiful. I love how much they love their dads. It certainly bodes well for them finding a godly husband!
What a wonderful idea. Love the pictures too. And how exciting to be a "fly on the wall" on such a special night! :)
I am so glad you were involved in the planning of this!
I am glad because I have wanted to have our girls involved in something like this with their father, for years! Now I have a go-to girl ;)
Our churches are similar so I feel like it would be a welcomed tradition. I know it must have been a lot of work, but your efforts were so worth it! What a precious memory you helped create for all these girls and their daddies.
I especially love these scripture references. I may have to credit you throughout the entire process. I am compiling questions as I type. Don't worry ... I'll give you a reprieve for a bit ;)
How did you guys decide on the time of the year and did you have the event in the same facility as where worship takes place?
That will give me a head start on at least the when and how.
Have a great week, Kim! I know you are relieved to have this labor of love accomplished!
Looks like such a special night!
