Our Valentine Tradition and a Love Letter
We have a Valentine tradition that we have enjoyed over the years...it is a family candlelight dinner on Valentine's evening. We love doing things as a family and I enjoy making special memories for my children...so we decided when our kids were little that instead of just Mike and I going out to dinner alone...we would incorporate everyone into the celebration of love! I do enjoy having date nights with my husband and I think that is VERY important...but we just do our special night sometime around Valentine's Day and we reserve the actual day for all of our Valentines...big and small! It has become one of our family's favorite holidays!Tonight's candlelight dinner will include:
Mixed salad greens, candied pecans, and fresh fruit(Chopped granny smith apples and blueberries) with a champagne vinaigrette.
Pomodoro Pasta With Cannellini beans...all veggie for me and some grilled chicken added for the others. That will be served with whole grain rosemary bread.
Chocolate dipped strawberries and heart shaped store bought petit four cakes for dessert.
Champagne vinaigrette:
2 T champagne vinegar
3 T extra virgin olive oil
1 1/2 tsp dijon mustard
1 tsp maple syrup
salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Whisk all except olive oil...then whisk in the olive oil a little bit at a time until combined.
We will be sharing this love letter with our children.

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

so precious! I love it!!!
What a great tradition!! We had heart-shaped pizza tonight. :) Happy Valentine's Day.
Us, too! We look forward to our 'family' Valentine's dinner celebration each year! :-)
Kim,
That is so sweet, especially the idea of sharing love letters with your children. That is definitely something I would like to do next year. I LOVE your tradition. What a wonderful way to show your love to your family!
So sweet! I miss reading you all the time, but love catching up when I can!
What a great tradition! We actually went out on a date night on Valentine's. The service and the meal was horrible, and it was not fun deal with the crowds. Hubby and I agreed next year we'll stay home with our family...which is where I love to be, anyway!
What a great idea!
Kim the letter is Gold.
