Power Tool in the Kitchen
My sweet husband surprised me today with an early mother's day gift. I have mentioned that I would like one of these a couple of times, but we never discussed actually getting one. I first learned about it when I was eating a mostly vegan diet because it is great at pureeing soups that are made with tons of veggies. Lately I have begun eating more raw foods and experimenting with different kinds of green smoothies. This machine is highly recommended for anything that needs blending, chopping, pureeing, grinding, wet chopping, etc....it can handle it all. I am so excited to have one of these, but, I am a little shocked my husband bought me one...afterall, we have a pretty decent blender already. This is the ultimate blender...the book that came with is says it is so much more than an ordinary blender, they call it The Professional Chef's Power Tool.

It is the Vitamix Vitaprep 3....isn't it cute?

I can't wait to make some spinach pesto, homemade salsa, and tons of green smoothies!

My green smoothie recipe:

Please know you can really add anything you like to make this....this just happens to be my favorite right now. Also, I am gradually trying to add more greens and less fruit, so that it is nutrient packed.

2 handfuls of fresh kale or baby spinach
frozen mango
frozen peaches
1 banana
a few ounces of greek yogurt (protein source)
Small amount of simply orange with calcium

Blend well....this makes a beautiful lime green smoothie and has just the right amount of sweetness.

OOOH YAY!!! My husband and I have actually been talking about this very blender for the past two weeks!!! We still aren't 100% sure (yes, the price holds us back), so I'll be looking forward to reading whenever you share about it!!

You know what got my husband interested? HA! Ice cream in 30 seconds! HAHA!!

Happy mixing... er... blendering?? HA!

His,
Mrs. U
