He is My Light.
Jesus is the Light of the world--the light that reveals, guides, and shines. His light is considered by many during this season. The lights on our house and tree shine brightly against the darkness of the night...they represent His light in our hearts. Without His light, we would all be in darkness with no hope. But the light of His Word shows us that he is also the Sovereign Ruler of all things.

And how comforting that is.

I have been studying with the ladies of our church through the book of Luke these last few months. It has been a great study. There were some weeks that I only got my reading done, but just being there for the teaching time was so helpful and encouraging to me on my walk with the Lord. I love the Truth that, even in the midst of chaos, Jesus was still in complete control of every situation. From telling his disciples how and where to go get the donkey he would ride into Jerusalem on, to the rooster crowing...to instructing his disciples on how to find the right room for the last supper...to the events of the crucifixion and resurrection...it was all under His sovereign control. His timing was what caused and allowed the critical events that are recorded in Luke to take place. For that, I am so thankful.

It is reassuring to me for so many reasons.

1) I can trust that He knows what I will face today.

2) He has prepared my heart for whatever I may encounter.

3) He gives me what I need to face the future, of which I know nothing about.

4) If he controls everything, I am free to walk without fear and anxiety...knowing that He loves me and is always doing what is best.

5) He loves me and everyone so much that He was willing to suffer and die on a cross made of wood...a death for a common criminal, even though He was perfectly innocent. That same love also motivates Him to do everything He does around me, for me, and through me.

6) His control reminds me that I am NOT in control...even though I pretend I am, at times.

7) His loving sovereignty shows me why I am here and that there is a greater purpose even in the mundane of where I find myself most days.

8) He has chosen my husband and children to surround me and I love to see how he uses each of us to sharpen one another.

9) I am exactly where I am supposed to be, thanks to His choosing.

10) I have spiritual leaders over me in my church family that truly care for my soul and the souls of others....that is all in God's plan for me as well.
Thanking God for what His loving control means to me!

He is truly the light. How blessed we are to know that.
I have been wondering how you are doing... how the wait is going and how your heart is?
