Moody Bible Institute's Women's Concert Choir and Bell Ensemble
We had the privilege and blessing of attending a concert of the Moody Bible Institute's Women's choir and bell ensemble recently at our church. In one word it was beautiful! The songs they sang displayed the gospel very clearly. The highlights for me were when they so beautifully sang Via Dolorosa (which is a song about Christ's crucifixion) and when the girls quoted the Apostle's Creed. The young ladies were arranged in a triangular shape in our worship center and the creed began with one speaking it loudly until, gradually all the girls were quoting together loudly. It was an emotional moment for me because the words of that creed are so powerful and hearing these young ladies quoting it with the joy of the Lord on their faces was simply a precious moment that I will remember.
There was a time of personal testimony given by one of the young ladies. It was a wonderful testimony of how God had worked in her life to overcome fear and worry...learning to trust completely in Him. There was also a time where all the girls went around and introduced themselves while telling of their homeland. Out of about 45-50 young ladies, many countries were represented including Israel, Japan, Vietnam, Honduras, Mexico, and India.
One of the reasons this was a special concert for us is that our oldest daughter is very interested in going to Moody. She is only in 9th grade, but we have already spent a lot of time researching colleges and looking into the best place for her. She is very interested in studying journalism, editing, publishing and also International ministries. Moody is pretty hard to get into...only about 1 out of 3 applicants get admitted. Only the most serious ministry focused students will be considered. So we must make sure this is where her heart is. We still have time, and there are other schools we are considering, but Gracie is very interested and I'm sure we will go visit there sometime in the future.
If you ever get a chance to hear a concert from their Sacred Music Department, I highly recommend it.
The Apostles' Creed
The basic creed of Reformed churches, as most familiarly known, is called the Apostles' Creed. It has received this title because of its great antiquity; it dates from very early times in the Church, a half century or so from the last writings of the New Testament.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
the Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord:
Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell. (?)
The third day He arose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy *catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
*Catholic hear refers to the entire body of believers...not a denomination.

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

That DOES sound beautiful! Especially the Creed part. Yep, I probably would have cried. A few times. :-) I'm glad you had a good time. It's so nice to go to something like that!
Kim,
I would have loved to see that. It sounds so exciting! There is nothing like singing sacred choral music. How incredible.
I would have been crying big time! Sounds just beautiful!
I'm so impressed hearing Gracie is thinking of attending Moody. Good for her!
I wish we could've been there - Annie being sick (again) prevented it. I bet Mark & Jill C were beaming, weren't they?
And thank you for not referring to them as "the Moody Women's Choir" (arrrrrgh!)
It sounds God-honoring as well as lovely. I'm glad you were able to be there.
Oh my...I love choirs...so very very beautiful. I live in a small community and NEVER get opportunities to attend something like this. Sounds amazing!
