A Family Funny!
Our little Jack Henry has been very slow to talk...he says Momma, dough dough(what he calls daddy)...and a few other things. But, the little guy does not say much yet. He grunts a lot, though! I think we talk for him so much that he hasn't had to. He has gotten a little better lately and has begun to say things like juice, his names for his siblings, etc. But, still to hear a word from him is very rare.

Today, after eating lunch at Fazoli's, we all got in the Yukon to begin the ride home from church. For those who do not know, we drive about an hour to church...that is a whole different post...but anyway, when we all got in and were buckling up, Abigail said, "Mom, something smells really bad!" Gracie said, "Ewww, something smells like rotten eggs...what is that?" Little Evie even piped in and said," Mommy...something doesn't smell so good." I said, "Well, what is it?" Jack Henry proudly raised his little hand and very loudly proclaimed, "ME!" It was so funny...we all laughed hysterically!

I guess he can talk, when the need calls for it.

A young man taking credit when credit is due.

Samuel was my slowest to talk as well (especially in a way *everyone* could understand)

Won't you miss it when Dad is no longer "Dough-Dough"?

Too sweet :)

Oh, what a sweet face--stinky or no!

Every mom will read this and smile---and remember.

(Oh, by the way, Henry is one of my favorite names; if we'd've had another he'd've been Henry.)

I have really enjoyed your last few "personal" posts showing the fun and personality of your family. It gives a sweet, down-to-earth context for the spiritual wisdom you so often share. It's a good reminder that while I may not be as advanced in my spiritual walk, I can eventually get there and encourages me on the days I start to feel tired. Thanks.

That is adorable!

My brother did a lot of grunting for a while...then when I went to school, he wouldn't stop talking. He was finally able to get a word in! :)

Thanks for the cute story!

I have a Jack Henry too. He is 8.5 now. He asked me last week if I wish I were a single mom. Having been raised by a single mom myself, I was taken aback, and said, "no, why in the world would I want to be a single mom?" to which he quickly answered, "because then you'd have all day to be by yourself and get pedicures and stuff." A little interrogation later and I realized he thought a single mom was a mom who sends their kids to school (we homeschool). too cute...
