On Calamity and Suffering
John Piper's words with footage from the scene in Minneapolis.

It really is because of God's mercy and grace that we are even here right at this moment...breathing, laughing, enjoying God's beautiful earth. Everyone will die. We all deserve death. We must proclaim the Truth of God's Word. God is glorified the most when we are in the midst of suffering, pain, and calamity...and we say, *This is no lapse in the goodness of God*. (this is a quote from a dear lady in our church when watching her sweet husband suffer-I will always remember that statement.)

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

Amen....and Amen...and Amen.
I live in the Minneapolis area, and I work in the heart of downtown Mpls, and my office is roughly 1 mile from the bridge that collapsed. From the 27th floor of my office building, I can see the devastation of the bridge, and the aftermath.
It's times like these, when people often relook at their values, and where they are going in life. What a GREAT opportunity I've had to share about God's love and grace.
A friend of mine, is a friend of the daughter of the 60 year old woman who was killed; and it always amazes me...how small our world seems during times like this.
And I agree, these types of situation should NOT surprise us!!!
Thanks for posting this Kim!!

AMEN!
I love the words from that lady in your church. It is such a testimony when someone going through a tough trial can say something like that!
Wow, awesome. The supremacy of Christ...it's hard to grasp.
How wonderful to serve such a mighty God.

I hear you are coming into youth group and I am so excited! I will be praying for you and hope you will do the same for me.
We should never forget. Life is short and only by the grace of God are we here. We need to spend out time living for Him. Thanks for your post.
Praise God for His grace. Every day is a blessing and we should not lose one single opportunity to share His love with the world because we don't know when it may just be the last time someone has the chance to hear it. Be bold in your walk with God and proclaim Him daily over and over again.
I love your site.
Blessings,
Sophia
