Speak O Lord

I love this song by Keith and Kristyn Getty! After hearing them in person last week and purchasing all of their cds, this one has become a new favorite. I especially like the words of the second verse. Those words are my prayer today...may we allow God to speak to our hearts through His Holy written Word...that it would be planted deep in us, that we would have full obedience...and true humility. You can also hear part of it here. The Christ Alone CD is a must have!!!! I like their others ones,too...but if you can only get one, get Christ Alone. This song is on that one.
"Speak, O Lord"
Words and Music by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend

Speak, O Lord, as we come to You
To receive the food of Your Holy Word.
Take Your truth, plant it deep in us;
Shape and fashion us in Your likeness,
That the light of Christ might be seen today
In our acts of love and our deeds of faith.
Speak, O Lord, and fulfill in us
All Your purposes for Your glory.
Teach us, Lord, full obedience,
Holy reverence, true humility;
Test our thoughts and our attitudes
In the radiance of Your purity.
Cause our faith to rise; cause our eyes to see
Your majestic love and authority.
Words of pow'r that can never fail—
Let their truth prevail over unbelief.
Speak, O Lord, and renew our minds;
Help us grasp the heights of Your plans for us—
Truths unchanged from the dawn of time
That will echo down through eternity.
And by grace we'll stand on Your promises,
And by faith we'll walk as You walk with us.
Speak, O Lord, till Your church is built
And the earth is filled with Your glory.
Just asking for those who might know: Is it illegal to post the words to this song on a blog? Even if I am giving credit to them and their website? I'm not sure and I do not know want to do anything wrong....

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace,the times of sweet victories,and the tears of trials,knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

Thanks Kim. Those words are beautiful.
Hi Kim, I "think" you can post since you give them credit.
I love the Gettys too, I am lucky enough to live near where they are stationed for the time being, so I've heard them several times in the context of leading worship. Their songs are so theologically deep and soul stirring, and the melodies are so singable. I just play their CDs over and over and over again!
Those are great lyrics!
Amen!!!
Brian and I were just talking about the Getty's music tonight. It's probably the most doctrinally rich and musically accessible, aesthetic, and border crossing (traditional to contemporary and back)music out there right now. We have that CD in our church bookstore and I think it will be coming home with us soon.
Kim,
This is a great song! Thank you for introducing it to me. Looks like I have some new music to go listen to. I love that! I second your prayer. That is such a wonderful verse.
As far as posting songs, I'm not sure of the rules, but I always make sure I post the author and copyright information. I'll keep looking for answers to that.
My favourite on the CD is The Power Of The Cross, there's a real sense of our Lord's forsakeness and then the wonderful triumph of "it is finished" at the end - He did all this for us.
