Unexpected One on One Time
Recently, I shared with you about my one on one time with our second oldest, Abigail...well, we recently had some very special one on one time with our five year old, Evie. It was not planned, nor did we enjoy it. It took place in the Prime Care Emergency Clinic in our town. Please understand I do not handle these things very well. God was so very kind to allow it to happen when Mike had just gotten home from work. I was making dinner when this all happened. Evie had disobeyed Mike by going on the patio and getting wet from the water that the little ones had sprayed on there earlier that day. She came in with wet feet, knowing that she was going to be needing to meet in the powder room...(corrective discipline)she was running on the tile floor behind our kitchen and family room area, where she slipped...then I heard a loud sound and screams...Mike ran to see what had happened and Evie was holding her chin screaming uncontrollably. We think she fell and hit her chin on the tile and it caused a pretty bad cut. So, Mike and I rushed her to the emergency clinic.
While there, she was pretty traumatized...I think she whimpered *mommy* constantly, understandably so. I was in tears, but I was brave (not really) and held onto her hands while looking out the window. Mike did the rest by helping Evie get through it! I asked the nurse for a stool to sit on, because I started feeling very hot and thought I was about to faint. Once I sat down, I was better. Everyone was so sweet to us and this small type clinic was so much nicer than a big ER, which usually takes forever to be seen by a doctor! It was a quick and calming experience. I'm so thankful!
I just can not stand the thought of my child hurting...it affects me...I'm better now. We took her last night to get the stitches out and she is doing great. Here is a picture of little Evie's chin with her stitches. Poor baby!

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

Poor thing. Glad she is OK, and that all of this is behind you.
Poor baby! I don't handle those things well either!
Your story brought back a FLOOD of "not so nice" memories of when our Ashley feel at church and ended up in the ER getting 5 stitches in her chin...in the exact spot.
My dh too....took charge as i couldn't handle it!! Thank goodness for strong Daddy's.
I'm so glad to hear she's better!! Poor pumpkin.

I got one exactly the same place, have the scar to prove it. I am so sorry this happened, glad she is ok.
Bless her heart! We went through a scary event last summer when my son burned his leg. Totally shook me up! I found out that although I'm a nurse, when it's MY child I'm just a mother worried over her child.
Hope she's feeling better.
Poor thing! That is a very popular spot it seems. :) I'm sure she will be fine and you will too. My Bekki did a similar thing at the same age with the same results.

Awww poor babe. My daughter at 5, right b4 school pictures, was dancing around in circles to Keith Urban and fell head on into the CD stand. She had 4 stitches in the middle of her forehead. I also do not handle it well, but had to as my husband was not available. I surprised myself at how well I did. Her scar is scantly there, alot of Vit E on it. Her pictures were shot within a few hours of the stitches out. Was and is a memorable photo.

Ohhhhhh...
I remember when our younger daughter had to get stitches. I sounds like you handled it the same way that I did!
But... an ice cream trip made things much better afterwards. LOL
Glad your both doing fine...
In Him,

P.S. Deep Thought (I rarely have those): Thinking about how much we hurt when our children are hurt; It must be only a hint of what our Father feels when we hurt. Mmmm... -C
OUCH!!!! I don't handle those things very well either!! So glad it wasn't worse!
I know exactly how you feel. In January 2006 Natalie hit her forehead on the corner of the wall and required many stitches. Then a few months ago, while at school, Nathan fell in the lunchroom and cut his chin and required stitches. It is so hard on them, but especially on momma.
Evie and Elizabeth will have matching scars, I think! E did the same thing a couple of years ago, hitting her chin on a table at some friends' house. I'm glad Evie is okay!
When my oldest was four, he had stitches in that same spot! We teased him about his "whiskers!"
