Building Family Memories

The Boy...

All of us!

We are home from the beach and had a wonderful time! Gustav affected us on Monday with waves up to our condo, strong winds, and some tornado warnings...but later that afternoon, the storm passed and we were able to get out and enjoy the day. Most days we spent the mornings on the beach while Mike attended meetings...then the afternoons were full of visiting some pretty areas in Destin along the coast, visiting with Mike's sister and her beautiful family, shopping(although we did not do a lot of this--we bought a few things), eating delicious seafood, and more beach time. It was a very relaxing time for all of us. We are all very grateful for some time away!
I agree with a comment recently on my blog...that it really doesn't matter where we are...Destin, Disney World, Branson, or just in a local park....we are building family memories every step along the way. Being together...enjoying God's blessings in our life and rejoicing in just being together. That is the most important thing.
We love visiting the beach every year, but the reality is that day by day in our home we are also building memories that will last in our children's hearts...MAKING THE MOST OF OUR DAYS, numbering our days, being wise in how we spend each day...and seeking to live to glorify God in the little things. This is the challenge. I don't always do this successfully...I allow the busy schedule to dictate what we do, I allow things that go wrong during the day to rob me of my joy in Christ...I waste time doing things that have very little eternal value.
My prayer for today is that I stop, as a busy mom, to enjoy each little moment, each little giggle, each little mess, each hug throughout the day...knowing that God is building our lives and we are making memories each moment of the day. The days pass, vacations come and go, but God's love and faithfulness in our lives last forever. May we rejoice in that Truth today!
Have a very blessed Monday!

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

Kim,
You always have such beautiful pictures! Does someone specific take them for you?
Also, I wanted to thank you for being such a source of encouragement to me over the past couple of weeks. You have no idea how much you've ministered to me and how much I appreciate you for it!

That is so true. When I get my dd ready for school in the morning I am always doing something. She will follow me around the house while I clean until her bus come. Now I don't even clean while she is there I just sit and talk to her until it time for her to go.Now when she gets home from school she says Mommy lets sit and talk about my day at school.I am so glad I started that.
