What We Have Been Up To Lately
1)Sending off our Abigail for a soccer camp especially for goalkeepers at the University of Dallas.

2) A fun short trip to Dallas for a wonderful time at the Great Wolf Lodge...and a last minute dinner with my wonderful friend, Amber and her precious family. Amber and I met through my blog and have found we have tons in common. It was so fun to meet her entire family(especially their new little blessing, Milla) and visit with Amber. She and I have met before, but I really enjoyed meeting everyone. We are kindred spirits. Such a sweetheart!

3) Nursing a running injury that I am pretty sure is a pelvic stress fracture...sounds fun, doesn't it? It is actually a pretty common injury for women runners. I may not be able to run again until early fall. I have been feeling better with walking lately, though...so I think it is healing. Really the only thing you can do for it is rest from the activity that caused it. I have missed running terribly and can't wait to hit that hot pavement again!

4) Sending off another child...Gracie to Honduras for a short term mission trip. She is still there and if you have been following the news, their is a lot of civil unrest there right now. The democratic president was just overthrown and there is some violent outbreaks in the capital. They have asked that all Americans stay inside houses and there is a curfew in place. Gracie's team has still been able to do most of the planned ministry and so far the area they are in is peaceful and calm. Let's pray it stays that way.

5) Lots of swimming...almost everyday. My younger ones love to swim. I have skin color that tans very easily, so I am really dark right now. (almost too dark) I have been doing some deep water running in our pool, which is a way to stay fit while healing from my injury. I really like it! I enjoy staying active, so this has been so nice!

6) A little bit of school...trying to keep Evie sharp with all her Math facts that we worked so hard on learning all year. Also, she has been reading through some A Beka readers that I bought as supplement readers. She is doing great! Such a smart girl.

7) Visiting with family. My sister lives in Alaska and she comes for a long visit every summer and stays at my parent's house. We have lots of fun catching up on eachother's family, playing games, and having family meals together. I made her my superfoods salad today for lunch and I think she liked it!

8) Celebrating Gracie's wonderful ACT score! She met her goal with this last time of testing! We are so happy for her!

That's about it for now. I hope everyone has been having a great summer!

Kim,
So funny! That is exactly how I described you to Josh while on the way to the Japanese restaurant, as a "kindred spirit". It was so good to get to see you last week!

Hi Kim,
Just a quick simple question - I remember last fall you mentioned Evie was going to use History for Little Pilgrims and I just wanted to know how you and Evie liked it. We are strongly considering it this year as an overview of history. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much!
Robyn

I love it! We have read through most of it, but I plan on going back through parts of it again. It is great to use with older children, too.

Good to 'catch up' with you - sounds like you're having a great summer (aside from the injury). I hope you heal quickly. I saw Gracie's mission trip pictures on facebook - I can just "see" her spirit shining through - I know her outside beauty doesn't even compare to her big beautiful heart. We now know, too, the perks of a backyard pool...it's so wonderful. the kids are in it for hours!
I think about your precious family often....enjoy the rest of your summer!!
