Gift of Freedom and Gift of Relationship

This Christmas, while trying to focus on Christ and others,I have found 2 really practical and memorable ideas to implement into our family time and celebration of Christ's birth.
Thanking God for the Gift of Freedom:
On a small piece of parchment paper, write a current concern in your life. Roll it up and put it in a small piece of netting along with some potpourri. Tie it up with a red ribbon and hang it on your Christmas tree to symbolize an offering you are giving to God. Make a conscious effort to be free from worry, trusting that your concern is in His hands.
"Christ is the only liberator whose liberation lasts forever." Malcolm Muggeridge
Thanking God for the Gift of Relationship:
Tie a ribbon to the Christmas tree for each member of your family; write a letter telling each one what you find special about him or her.
"To get the full value of joy,we must have somebody to divide it with." Mark Twain
These ideas are from the book *The Gifts of Christmas--Sight and Sounds of the Season* Tyndale Publishing

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

Hey Kim-
I love the idea of writing letters to family members-taking to time to really reflect and express of feelings and encouragement to one another. I treasure the letters I have from my parents, but have not done this with my children. Great idea I am going to implement!
Also, thanks for your comment on my blog today. It is nice to feel like someone understands where you are coming from. Being vulnerable is taking a chance without knowing the response-so hard sometimes. I so identify with your comment on selfishness. You are so right, I believe, that marriage and motherhood brings us face to face with "do I put myself or others first."
I also love the letter idea. We try to write one to our kids on each birthday.
Beautiful ideas. Thanks for the inspiration! I have a little something eating at me right now that I need to put on the tree and enjoy the freedom of laying this concern at His feet.
Thanks.
What sweet lovely traditions! I especially like the one where you add a ribbon to the tree along with a letter. Very nice! Thanks for sharing! :)
