Our Girl Talk assignment
My two oldest daughters and I are going through the book,Girl Talk,by Carolyn Mahaney and Nicole Whitacre. I know some of you are doing this now or have done it in the past. It has been wonderful and I highly recommend it if you have daughters between the ages of 12-18. We are only just beginning the book-we finished chapter 2 on Monday and will be doing chapter 3 today, but we have already seen ways to grow in our love for one another as well as encourage eachother towards Biblical Womanhood. We have had to look at areas where we need to improve and have read numerous scriptures already on God's beautiful picture of what Biblical womanhood is. We have been reminded that this relationship,(mother/daughter)that God has placed us in, is for our good and perfectly planned by Him. That is a great encouragement.
We had an assignment on Monday to write a note to eachother, describing one character trait that we appreciate in the other person and telling them how this quality is helping me grow in Biblical womanhood. I wanted to share my notes to my girls with you. I hope this will encourage you to do the same for your daughters...whether or not you are doing the book together...it would just be an encouragement for them!

Dear Gracie,
One trait I notice in you that is helping me grow in Biblical womanhood is your diligence in studying and memorizing God's Word! The time you have put into memorizing Jesus' Sermon on the Mount shows your diligence. That encourages and challenges me greatly. Thank you for your perseverance and diligence! It is God at work in you!
Love,
Mommy
Dear Abigail,
One trait I notice in you that is helping me grow in Biblical womanhood is your compassion towards others. Whether it is someone who is hurting or having hard times, you seem to have a very tender heart towards them. It is not pity, though, but an attitude of compassion that shows your desire to help them or pray for them. I appreciate this about you!
Love,
Mommy

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

That is such a great idea. My daughter loves it when I give her little notes. I'm going to have to get a copy of this book before my oldest turns 12--I have about 4 years to go.
You have two very wonderful daughters. It is amazing how much that they have changed in the past several years. Both are developing into beautiful young ladies. It is hard to remember them when I first met you guys when Gracie was in the second grade and Abigail was in kindergarten I guess. Time flies.
Beautiful! I am so going to get this book. I've really been pricked in my heart about having to sit and do something with my girls but didn't know what. Thanks Kim, this was an answer to prayer.
What an awesome idea. Your girls sound great. They are beautiful.
How is the dress hunt going?
We found one the day we went shopping! It is being altered and I am going to post pics the day of the banquet! Thanks for asking,Paula!
Can I just tell you how much I appreciate posts like these. My relationship with my 9 yr old daughter is often strained and I am so consumed with a desire for it to be better. It is encouraging to me to see examples of what is possible.
Thank you!
Laura
I love this idea. I have the book, but have many years before I can actually share this with my daughters.
They are both so beautiful!
Wow, I don't have girls but I am forwarding your post to all the moms in my church. My sister in-law knows the author...Carolyn Mahaney....Small world! Thanks for sharing she is going to get a copy and do it with her daughter! Praise GOD!
I have almost finished reading this book myself. I want to read it with my fifteen year old and than my younger daughter later. I have my fifteen year old reading another book right now by Elizabeth Elliot, so when she is done we will read this together.
It is excellant!
I seem to always type excellent with an "a" instead of an "e".
I love that idea! And I think I might just need to buy that book, I'll put it on my list of books to look for at the Home School Conference......thanks!
PS- Your daughters are beautiful!
SORRY! That last post was me. (sheepish grin)
Janet T.
That is so sweet.
I'm so glad to be able to peak in your "window" and watch you mother your girls. I know that I have a friend to turn to for wisdom as my own little girls grow up.
Awesome! Another book I want to buy and put on my shelf for the years to come. Two years ago I bought "Let's Talk!" by Danae Dobson. (My girls were 5 and 3 at the time!) I figure it's never to early for me to at least get a jump start! Thanks so much for sharing this.
Hi Kim! Is it okay if I add you to my blog roll? I am just now learning how to do that kind of thig?
Hope you're having a great Friday!
