Waiting on Lydia
We have recently updated our adoption website. You can view it here to read what is going on in the adoption process and what the Lord has been teaching us. Our trust is in Him and we know His plans are best.
We are approaching 16 months of waiting...we don't know exactly how long we will be waiting, but we still have a ways to go. The blessings of this time has been great and we continue to anticipate her joining our family, but also know that this journey requires patience. Please pray that patience will categorize our lives during this time. Thank you for your interest...your sweet emails( I just got one this morning that was so encouraging!) and your prayers. It really means a lot to us.

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

I will continue to remember your family as you anxiously await Lydia's arrival. His timing is not ours, but always best!
You will continue to be in my prayers as your wait patiently on the Lord for his perfect timing to bring Lydia home to your family. I'll also be praying about you decision about who will travel. You have a lovely family, and I love all the gorgeous pictures of you all on Lydia's website. I hope you all have a great weekend.
Praying that you have a blessed day! Will you be at broomball tonight?
Kim,
I continue to pray for all those waiting to bring home their children from China (my family included). It is not an easy time and there are so many unknowns. I am constantly trying to remember our God is in control (not the CCAA) and He is a BIG, powerful God.
God will bless you with wisdom about your travel plans and reveal the best solution for your family. I have two friends whose husbands traveled while they stayed home with kids (for various reasons). If you ever want to contact them for insight, let me know.
All the best,
Lisa
Everytime I think of your family and sweet Lydia I will lift you up in prayer. You are so right about patience!!! It is such a blessing to realize that the circumstances come from God and he has ordained the process.
THanks for updating us! I have prayed for your family and Lydia. I think of the other families who are adopting as we join in on this journey. It is exciting and I love the comfort we have in knowing the LORD will bring the child to us that He has for our family.
Your family is beautiful, by the way!
Thank you for the encouragement! Please let Gracie know that I had a wonderful time talking with her tonight. I am praying for your family during this adoption process. Lydia will be a very blessed little girl to be growing up in your home.
I was wondering how all that was going. I'll continue to pray. Thanks for the update!
I appreciate hearing an update, even when there isn't much to be updated on. Seeing God work in bringing Eliana to us, I am even more thankful that he is in control - I would have taken any child so long before we actually got her, but waiting for one child God had predestined for our family in his sovereign timing was so worth it. Praying she can come home to you in 2008!
Kim,
I LOVE your blog! I actually found it via "My Adoption Website". I checked your recent update and I completely understand your concern over who should travel. We brought our daughter home in Dec. 2006, we took our kids with us, they were 9, 5, and 4 at the time. If you ever have any questions I'd be happy to help. In the meantime, I'll be praying.
I will pray for you and your family, Kim.
First, I will continue praying for y'all. This "wait" has superceded the wait we thought was a long time for our own journey. All my friends who are waiting and the bloggy friends waiting just really break my heart. I can't fathom WHY the wait is so ridiculously LONG! HIS perfect timing is all we can bank on. Hug.
Next, thanks for your insight on the political run. Things ARE confusing and I just want them to be telling the truth.
Third, do your little children eat the same food that you prepare from your Mon. menus?
Last, but not least, I LOVE PEI-WEI!!! ; )
We are considering adoption too. May this process work out for you!
Pandamom,
Hi there! Thanks for your prayers!
As far as my younger children eating what I make...for the most part, yes, they usually eat it...but like for the night I made whole wheat pasta with pesto...I gave them a small serving of it and reserved some plain pasta to just add some butter to it in case they didn't like it...but they did! My almost five year old loves salad,so she eats that really well. They eat the steamed veggies pretty well.
When I make salmon I usually give them a small serving to at least expose it to them to try(they have to try it)...then if they just don't like it, I have other easy things on hand for them...like cheeses and fresh fruits. That way they try what we have and eat some of it...and then they can have some more kid friendly food, too.
Sometimes, they don't eat the soups I make really well...I always give them a small amount to try...sometimes they really like it, other times, I may give them some cheese, yogurts, peanut butter sandwiches, applesauce...something like that.
They love the raw nuts and seeds for snacks, though.
Of course, they love fish sticks and mac and cheese...I make that for lunches sometimes,so it is not always the *healthy* foods that are on my dinner menus...I try to have a balance for them.
It can be tricky, but I think it is better to have these healthy choices in front of them and see us model healthy eating.
Thinking of you and praying for your family and for Lydia.
I will also pray specifically for your travel plans - sounds like you have many options and a big decision.
Waiting is so hard. I understand wait times have increased recently. I am sure it is frustrating.
Oh, Kim what a great update! I have been praying for your family during this time and will continue lifting you up. God is so, so faithful and good.
And- to answer your question you asked in my comments last week- YES, we are on the adoption journey ourselves, as of the week after Thanksgiving! We are adopting 1 (possibly two?!?!) girls from Ethiopia. We are very much in the "paper pregnancy" stage at the moment, which I'm sure you remember all too well!
Oh, how I will continue to lift your family and sweet Lydia before the throne of grace in the months to come. {{{hug}}}
