Can It be, Jack Henry is Three?
We celebrated a birthday this weekend! Along with Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, we also had a little boy turning three years old! I can't believe it has been three years since little Jack Henry entered our world of girls...but March 21 was the day and a wonderful day it was.

Jack Henry loves all things *Boom Boom*, as he calls it....cars, tractors, motorcyles, lawn mowers, trucks, buses...anything that goes with a motor is a *Boom Boom*. Mike recently bought JH the CARS movie, so that was the theme of our family get together. Even a child's movie like this has some words in it we do not like to exposes our kids to(like idiot, hell)...so the mute button works well for that. Overall, this is a cute movie.

Jack Henry really enjoyed his cake.

How old are you today? As Jack Henry says,"Me thwee...Me thwee! He was very proud of his new age!

Jack Henry is very much a daddy's boy and always has been. So, for his birthday, how could we not give him something just like daddy's? This is the John Deere gator...it has a trailer on the back for hauling dirt, mulch, and easter eggs(we did a lot of that on Sunday)...it even really dumps! Although it is not a mower like daddy's, it will work just fine for what little boys need to do around the yard.

This morning, Jack Henry slept in. He slept much longer than usual. It was after 9am! Mike goes to work on Tuesday's at 9am, so he has to leave the house about 8:45. Mike *almost always* gets JH up before he leaves for work, but this morning JH was still sound alseep and Mike had to leave. I knew this may not go well for JH when he woke to see my happy face saying good morning. My face is not the one he wants to see....we know this from experience! I was right...when I heard him singing a little and saying da-da...I went in to open his curtains and say cheerfully, good morning Jack Henry, hoping he would be as glad to see me as I was to see him. Nope...it was not a happy reunion. JH said very insistently, "DADDY". I said ,"Jack Henry, I am sorry, but daddy had to go to work..you slept in a little late and daddy had to go. We will see daddy later today". Jack Henry began rolling in his bed crying real tears of despair...knowing that it would be hours before daddy would be home. He cried out "daddy, daddy, daddy". he then started asking for Paw-paw...I guess any boy would do...I said, "Jack Henry, Paw-paw is at his house with Nanny. He is not here." Jack Henry said, "Daddy a boy...you a girl". "Yes, Jack Henry, I am a girl...I am your mommy who loves you very much." He still cried and it was starting to become a discipline issue...(we do not allow fits!) I decided to show patience and grace and said he could stay in his bed a little longer and I would come get him in a few minutes after he calmed down.

I waited until I heard no fussing, then went in to get him up for breakfast. Jack Henry said again, "Daddy a boy"..."I know Jack Henry, but you are going to have to eat breakfast with a bunch of girls...would you like to come eat with a bunch of girls?"

He looked up at me with big watery brown eyes, smiled a little smile and said very loudly,"YEAHHHH".

Poor guy...life with all girls is pretty tough. But, in the end...I guess he doesn't think it is all that bad!

On a more serious note, you can read this prayer for our son from when he turned two years old. We are still praying this for his life.

Update: I am sorry for all of you that have bloglines and you see 100 posts from me...I always seem to have to change things up a bit after seeing it posted! I know that is frustrating....sorry!

So sweet to be a Daddy's boy! I love the cake. We've already had several CARS cakes around here and will probably have a few more. I agree with some of the language in the movie. We've had to mute it as well as address some of them with our older children.

For a while Robert was the only boy in our family. To make it worse, from newborn to the 4 year old class, he was the only boy in his age group at church. We finally moved him up a class so he could play with some boys. So, we had to deal with a lot of "gender issues" with him as well. He actually decided he was a man when he was about 3 because he was never around other boys. He realized he actually wasn't a couple of years later:)

Happy Birthday!! Love the gator! We got a golf cart this birthday!
Isn't it crazy about how they put some words in kid movies? We have to talk it through with our girls, as well.

We had a CARS birthday last year when our little guy turned three. Something innate in little boys that loves trucks and things that make noise.

Loved the John Deer-what little boy wouldn't just be the happiest in that next to Daddy's big one! Too sweet!

He is so precious! I love the adorable attachment to Daddy--exactly as it should be at this age. It is doesn't make it any easier on our mommy hearts to be usurped:) May he continue to grow strong in the Lord!

Happy Birthday big boy! Time does go by so quickly and our littlest ones seem grow up the fastest :(

We have a Daddy's boy here too. Their relationship is so precious but I think I hold a special place in his heart too ;)

Have you heard of ClearPlay? It is a DVD player that edits movies from language, sexuality, violence, etc. We don't have it yet but I do have some friends who love it. Their kids were able to watch movies like Hoosiers (my husband's favorite) and without the bad language. We too struggle with "kids" movies that include inappropriate words.
