The Cross of Christ
Do you know Him?

Do you worship Him today as your one and only Savior?

JC Ryle has an excellent sermon to read on Christ crucified found here. I have been trying to focus my mind and heart on Christ and the cross this week by reading things that pertain to that subject...not that we shouldn't keep a cross centered perspective at all times, but I am trying to prepare my heart for the Lord's supper tonight as well as His blessed Resurrection. When I think about Christ's death and resurrection it makes me see my weak and sinful state all the more. What a love God had for us that we could be called His children. What sorrow I feel, but at the same time, what joy and gratitude.

I never want to distract from this on my blog and, more than ever, I think today is a time to examine our own hearts in light of Christ crucified.

I'll ask the questions again:

Do you KNOW Him?

Do you worship Him as your one and only Savior?

Read JC Ryle's words here:
Are you living in any kind of sin? Are you following the course of this world, and neglecting your soul? Hear! I beseech you, what I say to you this day: “Behold the cross of Christ.” See there how Jesus loved you! See there what Jesus suffered to prepare for you a way of salvation! Yes: careless men and women, for you that blood was shed! For you those hands and feet were pierced with nails! For you that body hung in agony on the cross! You are they whom Jesus loved, and for whom He died! Surely that love ought to melt you: surely the thought of the cross should draw you to repentance. Oh, that it might be so this very day! Oh, that you would come at once to that Saviour who died for you and is willing to save! Come and cry to Him with the prayer of faith, and I know that He will listen. Come and lay hold upon the cross, and I know that He will not cast you out. Come and believe on Him who died on the cross, and this very day you shall have eternal life.

This, the power of the cross:
Son of God - slain for us.
What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross.

What a powerful invitation indeed. I love this.

The mix of emotions around Easter week is interesting. I have had moments of mourning over sin and the suffering of Jesus as He bore my sin to moments of joy when I consider God's great love and grace and mercy in Jesus. The fact that He longs to show us compassion and mercy is astounding to me!

Ryle's words really cut to the heart!

Unbelievable, indescribable! Thank you for sharing this. Such a powerful song. Such a wonderful Savior. God crushed His only Son, and I am able to know Him. So unworthy am I, but so thankful beyond words!

Happy Resurrection Sunday!

"This the power of the cross: Christ became sin for us"!

Just came from an awesome service where we revisited what it meant when God to crushed His son.

I am so thankful that God continues to show me in new depths what it meant for Jesus to become sin for me! My heart is sobered, yet so full! Hallelujah, what a Savior!

I love, love, LOVE that song!

I am so thankful for the cross! My husband and I were listening to a sermon someone sent us yesterday in the car and it was on the seriousness of sin. The pastor said something that I really liked the way he said it... it was something like - when we don't take our sin seriously, and we excuse sin, we, in a sense are saying that God was over reacting when He sent His son to die and take on our sin. (Not his exact words, but similar.) God sacrificed His son because of my sin. It is serious. This should make us want to run from our sin and right to the cross!

p.s.
Your miles are out of control! Way to go! I haven't added ANY since our little pink girl came to live with us. My morning routine is completely different now and I am not willing to sacrifice my quite time to run.
