One of the Joys of Homeschooling!
A Couple of days ago, Evie and I were working through lesson 78 of Teaching Your Child To Read in 100 Easy Lessons. We were learning about the silent *e* and how that letter on the end of a word makes the other vowell sound long. One of the things we always do when we are learning new words is we put the word in a sentence so it gives context and increases vocabulary...if we learn the word *must*, I put it in a sentence like *We must tell others about Jesus*. Evie loves this part and has caught on to it quickly. She now makes up her own sentences when we learn new words or even when we review our word lists. So, on this day(Lesson 78), we learned the word *side*. She said the word right, remembering the silent e rule,(good job, Evie!) and then she went on to put it in a sentence...she said so confidently,"side...that's like I have *decided* to follow Jesus."

I love homeschooling...you can see why!

Kim, I am having the roughest homeschooling day. I needed to read this for some perspective. Thank you.

What a precious story! We are convinced that homeschooling is what the Lord is calling us to when we have children, and I was so blessed by this story. I pray that the Lord continues to draw her heart towards Him!

God Bless!

Love it. These little moments help keep you going!

Do you like the 100 Easy Lessons book? I had bought it a while ago and was thinking of starting Ethan in it, but have gotten some mixed reviews from a few others. Just courious.

I really like it...we did it this year(pre K) because Evie was bored with just coloring, crafts, abc's, etc...I knew she was ready for more *school*. For kindergarten(next year) we will be using Phonics Pathways. But, 100 easy lessons has been great for us...she can read most level one books and most of the BOB books. I have been pretty impressed with the book...straight forward and easy to sit down anywhere, anytime and do a reading lesson.

That is a great story! Isn't it kind of the Lord to give us those moments to encourage us to keep going?
