Savoring the Moment
What a wonderful evening we had tonight.
You know when you have a time you enjoy so much that you wish it could stand still just for a few more hours...Just to savor the moment. I had that kind of night tonight. First of all,the weather here has been absolutely perfect...crisp,sunny,about 55 degrees. A glorious fall day! The leaves are beginning to fall, but some of the trees around are still blanketed with warm reds, vibrant golds, and crisp orange. Probably just a few more days or weeks and they will be bare.
We left our home in the late afternoon to take one of our children to a birthday party. My husband decided that while she was at the party,we would have dinner....just the two of us. Our oldest daughter babysat for us...yes,she is a dear! I love being with my children, but it is not very often that we get away, just the two of us....couples need that from time to time. Remember, one of the things I love about him is he likes to take me out to dinner...he proved that one true tonight. After a beautiful drive to the friend's house to drop off our daughter,he took me to a quaint little chef owned kind of restaurant...we have eaten there before, but only a few times. It is one of my favorites. We went right after it opened for dinner,so only a few other tables were being used. It was very quiet and private. We had wonderful food and conversation. It was one of those *I'm so glad I married this wonderful man and we have this precious time together* moments. Now,I have to tell you about the food...it was divine. We began our meal with crispy oysters served on sauteed spinach(love this)with brie cheese...sounds like a strange combination....it was DELICIOUS! Then we each had the soup of the day--shrimp bisque. Let me just tell you that this bisque was the most creamy, flavorful, perfect soup I have ever had. Even better than some we have tried at Destin. Then for our entrees...He had filet mignon with rice and sauteed veggies with some wonderful red pepper sauce. I had pistachio crusted tilapi with seasoned veggies and cornbread. It was so good! But,even better was our conversations---talking about the children and our dream of seeing our new daughter,Lydia. We talked about how happy we were to have our 4 children...and how 5 will be even better.
After a lovely dinner,we went shopping together....by ourselves...alone....to some of our favorite shops. I would have stopped at Starbucks for a decaf latte, but I was so full from dinner, that I actually turned down the offer from my husband. Can you believe it?
Then,it was time to pick up Abigail....and go home. It was perfect.
I will remember this evening as one of my favorites.
After we got home,we listened to today's Family Life broadcast. It was Steven Curtis Chapman and his daughter Emily speaking about their adoptions from China and how all that came to be. Their exciting story(which we have heard many times before) made us even more eager to get our daughter....but the process requires patience. We know God has that baby girl in His hands and His timing is perfect. It was encouraging to listen to it and hear how those little girls have blessed their lives. He also challenged all christians everywhere to look in their hearts to see if there is room for an orphan....so I have to ask all who are reading this....do you have room?
Just wanted to share one of our favorites: Go here to see precious babies from China. It is called *Some Babies Come By Planes*...go to children and families and you will see this title. It shows baby's referral pictures and then how they look 1-2 years later after they have been adopted. Please read the forward to it...it helps explain the situation in China.
Sorry this post is so long---I guess I had a lot to share.

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

We are praying anxiously for the day when you post the news that your baby girl is in your arms! What a beautiful day that will be.
What a blessing that you and your husband had time alone together. It is a sweet reminder of what came first!
On our date nights, we always somehow end up at Target after we have dinner. Isn't that weird? I think I have a Target obsession.
Have a wonderful weekend!
I love Target, too! I love to look at their kitchen stuff...dishes,placemats,etc...plusthey ahve really cute clothes!
This time we went shopping at a new shopping area...it has a starbucks, and some upscale type shops....then Dillard's at a nearby mall. My husband needed some new shoes for work(he found some on sale!) and he got a couple of new ties....I helped him shop. I just enjoyed his company.
That's so sweet! I love spending time with my husband, too. I don't really care what we're doing, just wasting time! It's such a blessing to be married to a man who can talk about the most important things.
My husband and I were able to go out together last night as well. It was nice to be alone.
I have two friends who have adopted little girls from China. And several friends who have adopted from other countries. It is such a blessing. I will keep your family in prayer as you wait.
Kim, that was really special the time you got to spend alone with hubby....I love even more that you don't take it for granted!
Have a great Thanksgiving!

What a special night! You made me hungry, too. Sounds just like what my husband and I like to do on dates. Good food, great conversation, and we usually end up at the bookstore.
I loved the pictures you linked with the little girls from China David Clapp is a photographer from Kingsport, the area I am orginally from. He takes amazing pictures.
What a wonderful evening you had! I'm heading to that link now.
Great post. Don't ever apologize for sharing such a wonderful night with your precious hubby. Mine and I are way overdue for one of those magical nights out. I need to find a babysitter soon . . .
Count me in on the Target kitchen stuff.
So glad to hear about your date. What a blessing!
I am so glad that you and Mike had a date night. I love date nights!!! It seems like yesterday that I was keeping Gracie and 2 month old baby Abigail while you and Mike went Christmas shopping. I hope that Molly and I can come over for a visit sometime during the holidays.
