Our Hearts Are Breaking
But,God is good. We know that and trust in that goodness even in times of sorrow. We have had devastating news this week and our hearts are so heavy. WE would ask for your prayers, not for us,but for the Bain family. Here is what has transpired over the last few days:
A 39 year old husband and father of 2 girls started having a severe headache and blurred vision earlier this week. Being concerned,he went to a local doctor and they ran a test and said he needed to go to the hospital in the city close to us right away. He suffered a massive stroke once he got there due to blood clots in his carotid artery. The doctors performed surgery and did everything they could. They were not able to save him. He died this morning.
We know this sweet family from our girls playing sports together. He coached our daughter in a basketball tournament just last month. He was a kind Christian man and a good father. His family has to be suffering greatly right now. He will be greatly missed by many in our town.
Could you pray?
When things like this happen,do you stop and think about the shortness of this earthly life? Do you see how fragile life truly is? Do you see that only a holy, just, and loving God can give life and take it away...when he chooses? It makes me want to get on my knees for the grief this family is feeling and it also makes me see the extreme urgency of having our hearts right before God. Is your trust in Christ alone? We do not know what each day holds for us. I must, out of obedience to God,trust the infinite, holy, sovereign and powerful nature of God in the midst of every situation. We live in a fallen world...may we all entrust ourselves to His care. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

I am so sorry for your loss, Kim, and for the loss of that family's father and husband. Of course, I will pray, we had a very similar case in our town last week. But we cannot question God's goodness, nor suggest this isn't in his Plan. We may not understand this, and we may have great pain, but God is good. Our sincerest Christian condolences,
Janet T.
Oh Kim, we just never know what tomorrow brings do we. I will most certainly be saying a prayer for this family and their loss and for you as well.

I will pray!! I can't imagine what this family is facing only to remember when my 33 year old friend and mom to four said good-bye to me at church one Sunday morning eight years ago, and died that afternoon. Life is so short! Yes this makes me want to get on my knees and worship the King of Kings, for the hope we have in Him. I pray for this dear family who will hurt so much at their loss and for you that God would allow you to reach out to this wife and mom with the love of Christ.
I am so sorry! News like this is always so heartbreaking! Praying even now...
Kim, I will pray. I cannot imagine what this family is going through. Yes, news like this does make me want to love on my family a little more - life is uncertain. I will pray for you as well, sweet friend.
I'm so sorry. We will definitely be praying!

Wow Kim something like this does shake one person up on the shortness of life. I will pray for his family.
I am sorry for your loss. I will be praying for the family, too.
Your thoughts at the end are so true and convicting.
I will pray for the Bain family. My husband's dad was so young when he died. Early death is an especially difficult loss for the family. I am SO GLAD to hear that Mr. Bain was a Christian! What a blessing for them in their suffering to know he is in perfection with Jesus.
Oh, Kim, you are so right--life's not fair, but God is good. I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. Having been in a similar situation myself several years ago with my sister, I know how hard it is to understand these kind of situations and to fight your way through them. My prayers are with you and this family. Blessings...
I will certainly be praying, my friend.
Oh Kim that is such hard news. Praying for the Bain family and for yourselves in the loss of your friend.
Oh, wow, Kim. I am praying right now for this dear, dear family. May they feel the Father's arms wrapped tightly around them. Situations like this put so many things in perspective. Our hearts must *choose* to say "Blessed be the name of the Lord" as you concluded in your post.
I am praying for the Bain family in the days to come, and for yours as well as you process this and minister to them. {{{hug}}}
Yes, I'll pray. Please let me know if you want me to ask for prayers on the CWO prayer blog. That's heart-wrenching.
One other thing... Kim could you email me at editor@christianwomenonline.net?
I have a question for you, and can't find your email address listed.
How heart breaking, Kim. I hope they, and you guys, will find God to be the God of All Comfort and Father of Mercy - especially right now. It's hard to see a young family suddenly be without a husband, daddy, provider - very hard.
That is very sad. I will pray, too. May the peace of our Lord Jesus Christ surround that precious family.
Hi,
I will say a prayer.

So sorry, Kim. I'll be praying for your family and the Bain's.
Kim,
I've been praying for their family and yours as you all deal with this loss.
I wanted to tell you that I was motivated to go to the doctor yesterday after reading this post because I've been having some serious headaches and migraines and circulation problems. Hopefully it's nothing but a vitamin deficiency but they are sending me to the neurologist on Friday just in case.
Kim,
I will certainly pray for God's presence and peace to comfort this family.
You are so right...our life is but a vapor. Death will come for each of us until Jesus' return. Not too long ago my husband and boys were watching an interview with a sports figure, a coach I think, who was diagnosed with some disease. In tears he remembered asking his wife if he was going to die. By no means do I intend to minimize his situation, which was certainly dire, but I thought to myself, "well, yes. We all die."
You said it well: "the extreme urgency of having our hearts right before God."
Yes, blessed be His name!
