The Modesty Survey is complete!!!

The Modesty Survey is ready!!!
TheRebelution.com just launched the results of their massive Modesty Survey! Over 1,600 Christian guys answered questions on everything from glitter lotion and lip gloss to swimsuits and skirt slits! For you girls, it's everything you've ever wanted to ask guys about modesty, but were afraid to ask! For you guys, it's really interesting to see what other Christian guys think!
Most importantly, the survey is presented as a resource to help Christian girls (and guys), not a list of legalistic rules, and it is accompanied by the Modesty Survey Petition (which tons of guys have signed) which encourage young women to focus on the heart, not the hemline, to honor their parents, etc.
TheRebelution.com presents the results of the survey as a big St. Valentine's Day gift from 1,600 Christian guys to all Christian girls—and I can't think of a better one!
Go check it out: HERE!

I am a stay at home mother to 4. I am very blessed to have a godly husband who loves the Lord and his family. I welcome the days of much needed grace, the times of sweet victories, and the tears of trials, knowing it is all for God's glory. I want my lifesong to sing to Him,the author and finisher of my faith. Soli Deo Gloria--To the Glory of God alone.

The Harris' blog is one of the first ones I started reading when I discovered what a "blog" was. I just LOVE idea of this survey, and have been fascinated to read some of the insightful comments by some of the survey participants. I'll be reading through some of these with my daughter, for sure. This is timely, not just because of Valentine's Day, but also because all of the spring and summer "fashions" are hitting stores. :)
We were just discussing the issue of modest in Bible study last week; seems one of the children's workers bent over a small boy, in a low-cut top, and he asked his mom later, why isnt she modest? This from a young child! And even in the church. Her intent was good but she honestly didnt realize how it appeared to even someone small. We talked about how to handle it, differing opinions, but finally decided the mom needed to go to the worker and gently discuss it with her. It' SO easy to slide into current culture - not notice that we've done so. I walk by the Victoria's Secret window and shudder for all those moms out there raising 10 year old boys.
Did you see what happened? I have been trying to access the results repeatedly. Apparently, they have so many people attempting the same thing it has shut the server down.
I will definately keep trying not only for my own knowledge with our children... but as youth leaders I want to share this with the teens as well!!
Thanks for pointing us in this direction!!!
Hello Kim,
I so enjoy reading your blog. Thank you for the great posts.
I would like to recommend a great book that deals with modesty and purity issues called "Raising Maidens of Virtue" by Stacy McDonald. It's excellent!!
We also enjoy John Piper, John MacArthur etc. Many of the books you are currently reading are on my bookshelf as well.
My husband and I are LID July 15/06 to adopt from China. We have one birth child - a 7 year old daughter. I'm thankful that there are many great books out there to read and help prepare ourselves. I'm currently reading "The Lost Daughters of China" by Karin Evans and have already read "Carried Safely Home". It was very good and reinforced to me the importance of "waiting well".
God bless!!
Kim, I love, love, love this information. I taught an in-depth Bible study to my SS class (high school girls) on this very subject. I'm printing stuff like crazy from this survey.
The last time we talked about it, my husband took the youth guys into a room and interviewed them individually about 'modest dress' and what they think of they girls that don't. Their remarks were so surprising to the youth girls when I showed them the video tape. It's been an excellent teaching tool. This will be as well. I cannot wait to share this website with my students.
Thank you so much for linking to this!!
I am not commenting on your post, but on the look of your blog instead. Forgive me. I just wanted you to know that I have chosen Blue Bird to design my blog primarily because of yours and Grammy55's. They are just great. Also, I'm so glad to see China adoption on this blog. As someone who lives over here, it is good to know there are those in the states who think of these little ones!
Blessings. Great blog! (content as well! :)
Kim, thank you for this link. Even after being married for almost 22 years, it is STILL amazing to me the struggle men face when women do not dress modestly (we women just won't ever "understand" it, I don't think!). I can't wait to show this site to my oldest daughter. What an eye-opener!
